Poseidon
The new rooster. An Ameraucana-Plymouth Rock cross. He likes to get out of the run by flying up to the top of the chicken coop. I’d never actually seen a roo on a roof before, even through it’s a pretty stereotypical pose.
Heron
We’ve had a heron hanging around too, at least untill we strung up some string to keep it from landing. I think it liked the goldfish in the pond — last summer there were at least 16 goldfish and a koi, we’ve seen one goldfish and the koi so far this year, but I wouldn’t really expet the fist to be very active for another month or so.

It’s hummingbird season. the first one arrived March 10, but the crowd really showed up around the first of May. We’re getting 6-10 birds around the feeders and waiting in the wings during the afternoons, and sometimes even more toward dusk. I’ve seen 8 standing on one feeder, 2 per feed station, taking turns drinking.
